Proofreading and reporting link errors

Guide to help you proofread text or report link errors on our websites

Proofreading

Usually we send you a link to an unpublished version of your website (a.k.a. production site link), which is only accessible via VPN.
This is for you to approve the translated content before the web team publishes it for users to see.

Please check

  • whether the translation is grammatically correct,
  • whether the text reads naturally in your language,
  • whether VELUX Commercial product names are used correctly,
  • whether all links work and point to the right place.

If there are images on the page, we also send the picture's Alternative Text so that you can check that too.

Important  when giving feedback

  • Insert the page URL
  • Mark on the page what needs to be corrected (take a screenshot / a snippet)
  • The text correction must not be graphics
    - we must be able to copy/paste text to avoid spelling errors
  • Always send corrections via email (not on Teams)

How to report link errors

Error 404

Unhappy smiley

Sometimes we get a screenshot like the one shown above, saying that the text link doesn't work. Unfortunately, this is not enough for us to correct the error as we won't know what isn't working.

Link error

In order for us to correct a link error, we need:

  • the URL of the page where you clicked on the link
  • a clear marking of the link that gives the error

The example above has both:

Link: https://commercial.velux.co.uk/service-and-maintenance/end-to-end-rooflight-support, so we can see which page the error is coming from, and

Screenshot: a red rectangle marks which link does not work.

Now we can correct the error. :-)
