Art viewed in its best light

In Traunreut, Bavaria, important works of contemporary art, including those of Andy Warhol and Georg Baselitz, are presented in low-key designed industrial halls that have been converted into a daylight museum. VELUX Modular Skylights create optimal lighting conditions for viewing the works of art and fit seamlessly into the interior design.

  • Daylight enters the exhibition space via two 25 m long Ridgelights with a total of 100 modules, of which eight per ridgelight can be opened electrically.
  • The daylight entering from above optimises the light yield, avoids drop shadows and eliminates the need for windows on the facade, thereby maximising the wall area for presentation of the works of art.

In contrast to the usual practice in museums, the art is not presented using sophisticated artificial light systems. Instead, it is shown in the changing light of the day and the seasons, which means that the colours always appear differently.
